This is a list of the revisions to the Video Commander 3.5 product
available through the Service Release packs.
Service Release 2
- Previous versions of Video Commander Scheduler have experienced a number of
difficulties with the Daylight Savings Time changes, causing scheduled events
to in some circumstances occur at the wrong time.
(Note that some of the problems even occurred for installations not using Daylight
Savings Time on their computers!)
This release corrects these issues.
- If the Scheduler was set to auto delete events, zero-length events were being
deleted without ever happening.
This release corrects that problem.
- For networked installations, the reboot of the server PC while Video Commander
client programs were still running would in many cases result in the Video Commander
client programs becoming unstable or crashing after an apparently successful reconnect.
New in this release, the Video Commander clients are automatically restarted on
a server restart to ensure reliable reconnections.
(Note, however, that this process is less reliable if the Scheduler or another client
program is running on the same computer as the Video Commander client.)
- New in this release: for installations with both the Video Commander
Scheduler and device control, we have added some new "preroll" capabilities
for tape deck control.
Please refer to our application note for details
of these features.
Service Release 1
- The Scheduler was having occasional problems with editing schedule events
with lengthy description lines, such that a deleted event might reappear,
or an edited event might appear twice.
This release solves those issues.
- The Scheduler now safeguards the event limits, to prevent the problems that
could occur if the limits were accidentally exceeded.
Also, the Scheduler "About" box now shows the counts of events.
- Device names containing semicolons could cause problems within macros,
the server command line and the serial communications interface.
This release resolves those problems.
- Device Setup could allow the creation of too many devices, or too many ports,
resulting in the server being unable to start or other crashes.
The limits are now better enforced.
- Restoring from a full backup (programs and files) was not re-creating all
the necessary icons.
This has been corrected.
- The Setup program was not properly handling long user names, or long control
strings.
These have both been corrected.
- The keypad interface option had a bug where queries, and choosing a destination
for repeated use, did not work correctly until a simple route had been performed.
This has been corrected to work at any time.
- New in this release: we added a "Versions Check" utility to verify
that all your files are up to date and in sync with each other.
