iNED 1.3 Release Notes - 10/18/2004
This document describes the changes in the 10/18/2004 iNED release, compared to the previous
8/6/2004 release.
Video Commander
- The order in which job colors appear has been changed somewhat in an effort to have greater
contrast between the colors if you have a dozen jobs or fewer.
- If you used the VideoTizer keyboard while recording a macro, the automatic route to the
preview monitor was being recorded as a macro step.
Now that route is omitted from the macro.
- If you canceled out of the Play Lists dialog, the next time you went to it both of the radio
buttons showed up as selected.
This has been corrected.
Device Setup
- When starting up, Device Setup now checks for driver objects which are missing their installed
extensions.
If one is detected, Device Setup offers to install the extension for you.
- Previously, if a router was showing an alert because of a missing driver extension, Device
Setup was incorrectly reporting that the router needed to have a signal type assigned.
This has been corrected.
Schedule Lineup
- The routing tab of the event dialog would allow you to choose signals for a device even if
the device didn't have them.
The list of signals is now restricted to those that apply to the device.
- Using the "Back" button in the Add Event wizard could result in additional steps
being performed.
This has been corrected.
- The schedule was allowing you to set end-of-event controls on a start-only event, even though
these controls would never be performed.
This now shows up as a conflict.
- An undo of a control change followed by a redo might not always get you back to what your
schedule had before.
This has been corrected.
- If you tried to apply a default schedule item which contained controls, you would see multiple
complaints about the same item.
You now only get one complaint for the problem.
- Shuttle controls are now hidden from the list of controls associated with a device.
- There were a number of problems with the "default controls" feature attaching the
default controls to a schedule step after the step had already been changed to use different,
or no, controls.
This has been corrected.
iNED Browser
- You can now force an immediate check for a software update.
In the "iNED Settings" tool, click "Check now".
This is available whether you have automatic update on or off.
- If you failed to install a needed extension during the Add Hardware wizard, the iNED Browser
could crash.
This has been corrected.
- If you delete an installed extension (from the System Properties tab), and there is still
a driver object which used that extension, the driver object now shows an
"unconfigured" alert status to call attention to the problem.
- Displaying the contents of a macro could show garbage for an unknown device control function.
This has been corrected.
- Displaying the contents of a macro could show a break away including signals with no name
if the recorded operation involved signal types no longer configured.
These signal types are now indicated.
- Read-only user permissions were not correctly restricting access to a VideoTizer.
This has been corrected.
A read-only user may not start a playback.
General
- Some customers were having difficulties with the automatic updater attempting to replace a
system file they were already using.
After you have installed this version, the updater is less likely to try to replace a shared
system file, and you have the opportunity to ignore the error and continue.
- Previously the automatic update would attempt to find iNED servers or VideoTizers on your
local network to update immediately, rather than waiting for you to log into a system and
giving you the option to update.
This has been changed.
Only the PC software is updated immediately, and firmware is only updated when you log into
a server and indicate that you want to update now.
- The automatic update was sometimes doing updates that were not needed.
This has been corrected.
- If you attempted to log into an iNED server running an operating system prior to 1.3 while
your client software was newer than 1.3, you would be asked if you wanted to do an update,
but the list of things to update would be empty.
This now correctly lists the operating system as the item to be updated.
(Other firmware may need to be updated once the operating system is new enough to report the
versions of the other firmware.)
- Because Video Commander, iNED Browser, Device Setup and Schedule Lineup all have their own
windows, it was possible for a dialog or message window in one of these applications to go
unnoticed while working in another application.
In some cases this would cause an application to not function completely, such as Device Setup
or Schedule Lineup not checking for conflicts or allowing changes to be applied.
Now no iNED application will allow you to interact with it if another iNED application has
an unanswered dialog or message window.
- The "about" window for the various applications now lists the version of the last
automatic update package installed on your PC (if any) in addition to the program version
information that was always displayed there.
- Several new IR control libraries have been added to the NEDstation and SmartPort, including
DVD recorders from Sony and Panasonic and a Dish Network satellite receiver.
