Version 1.3 - November 14, 2005 build

This download is a self-extracting executable file which contains the full installation files from the current Video Commander Professional Edition distribution CD, current as of 11/14/2005. Any customer running older versions of Video Commander Professional Edition and the iNED software is entitled to this download at no charge.

Installation Instructions

  1. Make sure that no other users are connected to the device server, and that no scheduled events are due to occur within the next hour. (This process should take nowhere near that long, but better to be safe than sorry!)
  2. Make a current backup of your existing iNED database. This is done from the "Database Properties" view in the iNED Browser, or from the "iNED Backup" shortcut in your Start Menu.
  3. Shut down your iNED software.
  4. Download the installation file: VCpro111405.EXE (11/14/2005; 18MB)
  5. Run the downloaded file, and click the "Yes" button when asked if you want to install.
  6. The installation wizard appears. Step through each screen; you should not need to make any changes, since the installation path and license key will be the same as on your previous installations. After you click "Finish" on the last step, the files will be installed.
  7. Start your iNED Browser as usual. Log into your device server.
  8. You will be prompted with a list of items on your server which are out of date. This will include the "NEDOS" operating system, and possibly other components as well (depending upon what has been installed). Click the "Update now" button. Each out-of-date component will automatically be updated.
  9. Perform the iNED software installation on other PCs using this iNED system. Those PCs should not prompt you to update the system components since you already did this.
  10. Once all PCs have the new software, you should be free to use all your normal iNED applications (Video Commander, Schedule Lineup, etc.) again.

If something should go wrong...

If the installation of the iNED software fails, try the installation again. If you are still unsuccessful, and technical support from IRIS is not immediately available, you should uninstall your iNED software from Windows Control Panel ("Add/Remove Programs"). Then reinstall iNED from the last "good" CD or download image. If that version was prior to iNED 1.3, you will also need to upload the device server firmware from that image (NED1.iNL or NEDstation.iNL). Once the old version has been reloaded, restore your backup. Do not attempt the update again until you have contacted IRIS technical support.


Do I need this update?

IRIS Technologies recommends that all users be running iNED version 1.3 from 10/18/2004 or later. The 11/14/2005 version contains necessary support for some servers and SmartPorts sold after 11/1/2005.

If you are already running version 1.3 and have Internet access, your software should have already updated automatically.

What version do I have now?

To determine your current version of iNED software, run the iNED Browser. Click on the IRIS button and choose the "About iNED Browser" menu item. In the window which appears, check the "iNED Manager software" section for the version, and build date, you are currently running.
