Classroom Media Control

Video can be a powerful tool in the classroom. Studies show that a video presentation causes a dramatically higher rate of information retention in students than a conventional lecture. Classrooms of all types are making increasing use of video to support teaching.

For a classroom with a variety of audio/video equipment, our Video Commander signal routing products can make it easy for teachers to connect the VCR, DVD or other player to the screen or projector they need. Our small-system Beginner Edition bundles are an inexpensive solution, or our Personal Edition system lets you handle more devices and use Smart Switches to set up standard routes with a single touch.

For a facility where some of the classroom's audio/video resources are located in a central media department, our Video Commander Professional Edition allows the classroom's signals to be controlled by the teacher in the classroom or from the media department. And the optional device control features in Video Commander let your video gear be started, stopped, fast-forwarded, rewound and so on, regardless of whether the equipment is close to the teacher or on the other side of the building. Literally hundreds of different makes and models of audio/video devices are supported for control by the Video Commander device server.

For the use of video in classroom presentations, you should also consider our VideoTizer digital video presentation system.

"I am amazed at the ease with which my students have picked up the patching on the Video Commander. I used to reserve an entire class period to teach patching on the old router, but now I can have students comfortably patching with about five minutes' worth of instruction!"
