Video Commander's Schedule Lineup application defines a channel lineup: what
signal feeds are connected to what channel modulators.
For shared channels, Schedule Lineup manages the switch-over between sources at the
times, and on the days, that you designate.
You can also assign "effective dates" to the lineup, so that Video Commander
can switch over to a new channel lineup, all at once, set up days or months ahead of
the event.
In today's complex cable systems with multiple advertising zones and channel lineups,
these features let you finally keep up with the changes requested by the business
office!
The Video Commander routing program is where you make the routes which differ
from Schedule Lineup's setup.
Route signals to test gear, or through VITS inserters, without disrupting the signals
seen by your customers.
Or authorized users can override a lineup route to substitute an alternate signal path
if something should go wrong with the regular signal.
When you break an override route in Video Commander, the Schedule Lineup background
routes are automatically reinstated.
Your ability to patch your system while it's live, without making the customer support
phones ring, can justify itself in just one network failure!
Special Lineup Buttons in Video Commander let you monitor your lineup.
A single button shows both a channel modulator (destination) and the source feeding it;
these buttons change color if their route has been changed from what Schedule Lineup
says it should be.
The Professional Edition of Video Commander uses standard Ethernet networks to connect
your PCs to a compact, reliable device server.
Multiple users can access the system, subject to the user accounts whose permissions
you define, from across your building or across your service area... even from home!
