A/V Routing
Whenever you add a new piece of audio or video equipment to an existing system,
there is always some time spent figuring out what you already have and how the
new piece will fit in.
A few minutes or hours later... maybe after a quick trip to buy another cable or
switch... the equipment is connected, things work, and you can push the tangle
of wires back behind everything and forget about it until the next time.
That's a reasonable approach for behind a home entertainment unit, but it is not
a practical way to do things in any business or organization where video is
important and changes to the setup are common.
The more devices you have, and the more often you need to change what is connected
to what, the more you need a signal routing solution.
One solution is the patch bay, a set of connectors and cables out where you can
see and work with all your connections at once.
But a patch bay can't let you connect a signal source to multiple destinations
without also patching in "distribution amplifiers" to boost your signal,
which gets things still more complicated.
Another solution is a signal router, although these generally involve complex
control panels and cryptic designations for the devices.
Either solution helps control the wiring mess, but neither solution does anything
to make the changes easier.
You need an expert to help manage the wiring for you!
...Or, better yet, you need Video Commander,
IRIS Technologies' flagship product, to make the wiring something that you, or
anyone in your organization, can manage easily.
Video Commander is a friendly, graphical software program running on your PC
that shows you your devices, and what is connected together, at a glance, and lets
you make connection changes by simply touching the device you are coming
"from," the device or devices you are going "to," and the
"Done" button.
A signal router makes the changes, immediately, and your screen shows you which
devices are connected by showing all the devices in a routing "job" with
a common color.
It's that easy!
You can learn Video Commander... or train your organization to use it... in just
minutes!
If you need to connect lots of audio and video devices in changing ways, don't delay!
